At times it can be an daunting task to redecorate a room, or worse yet an entire home. What is the best flooring for the space which carries the desired acoustics for the requirements, the color that is best enhanced by the amount of light in the room and of course, enhances the desired furniture? Boy is that a mouthful, but all extremely important. Here is another question. Should a sofa be purchased because it is somewhat comfortable and guess what….the chain furniture store is having a sale? Oh, and yes; does that sale sofa go with the flooring, or does it have to go with the flooring? Now that wall paint color selection has become so demanding as bold is in, what is the secret behind picking wall colors?

These few questions are enough for a home furnishings shopper to just throw in the towel. Everyone works long hours these days with a great deal of expertise in their chosen profession. Who has the time to donate enough energy for proper exploration into an unfamiliar area of expertise to create a fabulous interior space? The Certified Interior Designer works on the above questions on a daily basis to quickly work through the quagmire of unanswered questions to create beauty in any space.

PAINT
Paint selection can be brought down to an easy task when the rules are followed. When using blues, greens and some reds; err to the gray. In other words, pick the color you think would be great and then take it a step or two more gray. If you do not, you may have the blue that is perfect for a baby’s room. When using yellows, corals and persimmon; err to the brown. The same rule applies. The color on the little sample chip may look great in a very small dose, but spread that around and that color needs to be toned down. When standing in your room, notice which wall is the lightest and which is the darkest. The wall across from the windows is the lightest. That is where a more intense color can be. The dark wall is the window wall. You may want to paint that wall in a lighter shade. Now how simple is that?

FLOORING
The new laminate floors carry the most alive acoustics. When the noise starts floating around, it is difficult to hear ones self think. Hardwood floors are very popular and a beautiful addition to any home. If installed in every room, the acoustics can also be bright. Try carpeting in the den and bedrooms for a warmer and quieter home. Changing types of carpet in the home can also add another interesting dimension to your home.

UPHOLSTERY
I can spot a sofa purchased at a chain store on sale, a mile away. The reason is it never really goes with the décor. Bustle back sofas never work with any décor, but they are generally on sale. Design Elements can find the sofa that enhances your décor with the perfect color, size and comfort for your needs. This sofa does not have to cost more either. There is never a need to go from store to store and not finding exactly the right look.
